Walk the lake michigan shoreline
Feel free to walk up and down the lake michigan shoreline. In Michigan, the public has a legal right to walk along the beach up to the Ordinary High Water Mark (just above where the water waves flow). ENjoy miles of beach and enjoy looking at all the beautiful homes in the area, while enjoying the peace and nature of lake michigan.
Tubing Stony Creek
You can rent tubes at Stony Lake Market, and put in at the stony lake beach for a relaxing float under the bridge and through the winding stony creek, ending at the stony lake oval and lake Michigan. this trip usually takes 2-3 hours, but it depends on recent rain and lake levels. if you have 2 vehicles, park one at the oval and one at stony lake beach to save the walk.
Otto Nature Preserve
80 acres just down the road from our place with 2 looped trails through old-growth northern hardwood forest.
Stony Creek Nature Preserve
a new 40-acre parcel of land owned and managed by Oceana Conservation District. This is a new preserve with the first stage recently opened.
Little Sable Point Lighthouse
Climb this 115 foot lighthouse to see spectacular views of the Lake Michigan shoreline and the Silver Lake dunes. Just a short 8 mile drive from our place.
